Video, Photos, Statement: Israeli ships not welcome in Vancouver
Dozens of activists set up an information picket at Deltaport this
morning, designed to slow the transport of containers belonging to the
Israeli shipping company Zim. Demonstrators gave truckers and passers-by
information about the growing refusal by workers to unload and transport
cargo from Israel or shipped by Israeli companies. Vancouver Media Co-op
correspondents filed this report.

Activists tell Zim - Israeli ships not welcome in Vancouver
Vancouver – Locally-based activists, called out by the Boycott Israeli Apartheid Campaign (BIAC), held a picket line at the Port of Vancouver's Delta Port facility at Roberts Bank, south of Vancouver, as part of a mounting international campaign to put pressure on the government of Israel.
The Israeli ship Zim Djibouti, owned by Zim, one of the ten largest shipping companies in the world, landed at Delta Port this morning.

Gaza now -- 11 months after the invasion
By November 28th, the UN's International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, something -- anything -- could be different in Gaza. Some small aspect of life in Gaza could change for the better. But, in mid-November, it seems more than strange that, when they are presented with the "facts on the ground" in Gaza, there are still official optimists who talk about achieving peace for Palestinians. They base their hope on assurances from the Israeli Government that Israel is acting in self-defense and is deploying "the most moral army in the world." And yet, these benighted optimists at least distinguish themselves from most western news commentators by taking an interest in the problem.
The Goldstone Report
As the UN has done many times since the Second World War it responded to the deaths of thousands of civilians by commissioning a distinguished panel of experts in international law to prepare a report. Richard Goldstone was appointed to lead the enquiry. He first refused the commission -- his fifth within the UN -- because it did not explicitly mandate the investigation of possible war crimes by Hamas. When the mandate was corrected, Goldstone took it on.
